Haiku Reflections

is it foolishness
to seek out the wild places
spring day in april

This is a poem which describes a simple, instantly recognizable state of mind, which nonetheless can be interpreted in several ways. "To seek out the wild places" might refer to the deep yearning to spend time in nature, and to witness its awakening up close, in the Spring. Or, it could describe seeking out and exploring the wilder places within oneself... "Is it foolishness?" the poet is asking, of themselves -- a mostly rhetorical question. If this is, then we yearn to be foolhardy every spring, along with the rest of nature.
